About me- Dog Trainer along Geelong & The Surf Coast
The Surf Coast Dog Trainer, Using Positive Reinforcement for Lasting Results
Hi, I'm Cameron, founder of The Surf Coast Dog Trainer. With 15 years of experience in secondary education, I’ve honed the skills of clear communication, patience, and a scientific approach to learning. Over time, my passion for dogs grew stronger, especially as I worked with my two rescue Kelpies, Henry and Reef. It was through my love for them and the challenges of raising rescue dogs that I decided to combine my teaching experience with my passion for dog training.
While still working part-time in education, I completed the Karen Pryor Academy Professional Dog Trainer course, realising there was a gap in my local community for positive reinforcement-based dog training. I am also a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers Australia. I aim to bring a solution to families, helping them build strong, healthy relationships with their dogs through scientifically backed, positive reinforcement methods.
I specialise in working with all types of dogs, from new puppies to reactive dogs. However, I have a special affinity for helping high energy working dog breeds like Kelpies, Collies, and Heelers—dogs with a strong work ethic and unique needs. My experience with Henry and Reef played a pivotal role in shaping my approach to dog training, inspiring me to help other owners address behavior issues and prevent future challenges.
My background in education allows me to create tailored training plans that are clear, actionable, and effective for dog owners. Whether you’re dealing with behavioral challenges or simply want to ensure your dog grows into a well-rounded companion, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
At The Surf Coast Dog Trainer, I believe in positive reinforcement and science-based strategies that create lasting change, both in your dog’s behavior and in the bond you share.
